At last a decent place to go too for a great meal in Ingatestone. Although rather busy on a thursday night service was good, the food piping hot and the prices reasonable, can't wait to go again. Not your typical pub food, good class restaurant standard. Well recommended

Very poor - The Star used to be a real character pub but has been given the corporate make over so that it could now be any other pub and it desperately trying to be something it is not. I went there on a Monday evening with a friend at 9 o'clock and we were the only ones there! It's not suprising considering the service. The bar maid was nice, but the bar manager had a serious attitude problem. My friend bought a drink for himself and me just before the final bell (which did not seem to be a problem). At 11.30, the bar manager came over and asked us if we could finish up and we politely agreed. However, rather than leave us a couple of minutes to finish our drinks he then sat down on our table and rudely put his hand under his chin indicating that he wanted us out now. This was completely unecessary and incensed my friend who had spent £30 pounds in there that evening. A really classless attitude from a really classless pub. It's no wonder they have no customers. Avoid at all costs!
