The Wheatsheaf is my favourite of the pubs I've visited in Leighton Buzzard. Even before entering we were greeted with a laugh and a joke by a smoker braving the sub zero weather.
It feels comfortable if a little tired inside and is effectively one big room with an island bar, bench seats around the walls and a pool table at the back. Critically, there is a real fire which was blazing on our visit and the table next to it was free. Joy.
It was fairly busy with plenty of vertical drinking, cheery welcoming locals and all happy to chat. It made for a really warm, comfortable atmosphere. Also worth noting is a photograph of the pub with two vintage tractors parked outside.
Two handpumps had on Deuchars Caledonian IPA and Tring Jack o' Legs both of which were in good nick but neither of which are great favourites.
A lovely boozer which could be an absolute cracker with a lick of paint and a better beer selection.

A small traditional pub with modern etched glass windows at the front. You enter into a carpeted lounge with a real fire ,an island bar and wooden tables and chairs, with a small banquette by the fire. The lounge is L shaped and there is a book share library on the rear wall.Elsewhere there are signs about live music which seems a regular event. There is a seperate pool room in the back bar, with a few seats where some younger customers gather.
There was a very friendly welcome from the barman and the regulars were a decent lot. This is a thriving community local and with the real fire it was easy to feel at home here. There are two handpumps with Everards Tiger (a bit pricey at £3.40),and Tring Jack O' Legs plus the usual suspects on keg.
Worth visiting on any crawl around town,I would be quite happy to pop in again for the positive atmosphere and a decent pint.A good solid boozer.
