As referred to below the Ferry Boat Inn is primarily here to service people with and visitors to holiday homes on the Orchards holiday village, and the large carpeted one bar room does have more of the feel of a holiday camp social club than a pub.
It does have the advantage of a very large external garden space which scored as we were blessed with a fine weather day.
Standard keg offerings only, no ale or crafty keg offerings here, but at least the Guinness was drinkable. A limited food menu is available from a small serving hut at the end of the games room and although I didn’t have high hopes, what the two ladies were producing in this small kitchen was surprisingly good.
Not the best pub in the world, but it services a need, and if you are coming across the Brightlingsea ferry to walk the south bank of the estuary, a fizzy keg product awaits..
It is also right next door to a local point of interest, a Napoleonic war Martello Tower which is open as a museum. And over the years its collected an old World War 1 tanks as well..

This pub is situated on the Orchards holiday village and generally caters for the people staying there. A fairly large room with a couple of drinking areas and a small stage for entertainment. No real ale. This pub is a couple of minutes walk from the Brightlingsea ferry stop and a serious route march from the 17/18 bus stop which takes you into Clacton.
