This is a Greene King pub, so obviously there’s nothing very unusual in the way of ales, but as well as the GK pair of IPA and Yardbird, they also had on Timothy Taylor Landlord, which was in fine nick. There’s a 10% discount on real ales for CAMRA members. They do food of course, but it’s anything but a gastropub. I was there for Sunday lunch, and the offer on the table is for two meals for £9.99. It wasn’t a massive meal, but worth a fiver I guess.
The pub itself is larger than it looks, and is separated into several distinct areas. There are also plenty of normal tables and chairs for traditionalists like me. Essentially it’s a fairly standard Greene King pub, but as it’s away from a main shopping area I suspect it gets mainly local trade. It’s certainly not worth seeking out, but it served its purpose in providing us with a decent bite to eat and a decent pint on a Sunday.
