The Bricklayers Arms takes good care of there customers and guests alike. This pub has a great history, and including the days during WW2 when the American Base at Willingale Airdrome, Ongar was operational during the early 1940s. The American Army/Air Force personnel would make there way to the Bricklayers Arms and down a pint or two. How do I know, well I lived near the pub until 1949 when my parents, my siblings and myself left there for the USA to begin a new life. In 1953 I joined the US Air Force, and by 1954 I was flying in and out of London and soon got a posting to RAF Fairford, Gloucester. I made many a visit to the Bricklayers Arms both during my Air Force Career, because I was stationed in England for 3 seperate tours of duty. Having many friends both in the village and surrounding areas, it was always good to meet up at the old pub. My last visit in 2010 I found the Pub closed for the day I arrived it was on a Monday. However, I can say that this Pub has the atmosphere one looks for, and they serve meals too. In other words I recommend to anyone who has not visited this Pub, you are missing out. One day soon I hope to visit there again. My name is David Lawlor, I live in Peoria, Arizona, USA.
