Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Broad Oak
Just off the A28 at the village crossroads, this elongated old building has been partly opened out and given a thorough refurbishment inside. Mixture of semi-traditional and semi-modern features, but the decoration is quite light (but just as well since it might have been quite gloomy otherwise). Food led, as you would expect, with dining rooms on each side of the central bar area. I found the local Alliance Gold from Rother Valley and Meekham's Southern Pride (£4.25, brewed somewhere in Sussex by a Richard Harvey for the local Colemans ABC drinks distribution company) from two of the four handpumps.

Old Blue left this review about The Rainbow Trout
Just off the A28, this mediocre looking pub has a large main pub area, a smaller more formal restaurant room off to the left and a beer garden beyond. If felt a bit spartan and indifferent, though as we were amongst the first in on Sunday we hadn’t expected to find much atmosphere. On the plus side, there were two ale pumps serving Rother Valley Level Best (not a bad pint of) and Harveys. On the minus side, not having any loo roll in the gents at the start of the day smacks of carelessness. They no longer have the bar billiards table listed on another website, and there is what appears to be a boxed dartboard on one wall, with a table in front of it thereby precluding its use. I would however drop in here again if I was in the area and had an urgent thirst to quench, or had no transport to take me anywhere else.
