Strongers . left this review about The Carpenters Arms
The Carpenters Arms is a 17th century free house located on Fletching Street, which is a bit of a walk down the hill from the High Street. There are a couple of picnic tables out the front by the entrance and there is also a covered seating area to the right of the pub. I didn’t spot any menus inside, but the A-board out the front listed some pub grub that was very cheap at around £5.
The interior of the pub is made up by three sections that include a lounge type area to the right of the bar and a public bar area to the left that houses a pool table, dartboard and plasma screen. There is another dartboard in the bar area where a log fire was crackling away. Harvey’s Best was the ale option as the other two hand pumps were unused. There is also a standard draught selection alongside a couple of draught ciders.
I was the only customer on the recent Monday afternoon I visited, but I could see that there is probably a good atmosphere in here when it is busier. There was no background music and I didn’t spot any signs for Sky Sports. Accommodation is available.
Out of the three pubs in Mayfield this one would be my local if I lived in the area.
