There is strong competition locally for pub food but The Lamb is up there with the best of them. The new chef offers a menu which, while short, is high on quality, in contrast to so many other places. I'm told that there's generally more choice towards the end of the week and over the weekend.
Internally, you will find several tables in front of the main bar, a side room and a back room adjoining the bar, containing a pool table. The beer garden is a quiet environment to enjoy the food and drink.
Drinks are from the Shepherd Neame range, although neither Spitfire nor Kent's Best were available on my visit. Fortunately, they also serve a good quality Harvey's Sussex Best (in branded glass).
Ripe is a quiet little village close to the Downs and I would certainly recommend the pub and the area. If I lived there, I'd happily have this as my local.
