A good solid regulars pub, which was very welcoming. The interior consisted of a small seating area near the entrance, with lots of music memorabilia of the 60s and 70s. The midway positioned bar area on the right had a hand painted mural depicting the sea with Neptune playing lead guitar and a collection of plectrums from bands who had visited and performed on the corner stage at the rear.
Five porcelain handpumps across the bar Darkstar Hophead, Harveys Sussex Best, Abbott, 360 degree brewing Co Harvest Moon green hop IPA and 360 Bluebell.

Fairly inconspicuous from the outside, this is a small one-room pub with a good selection of cask ales, enough to get it into the Good Beer Guide. Greene King Abbot & Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter are the regular beers. Guests for our visit were Burning Sky Plateau & Titsey Leveson Buck & Estate. The latter was an enjoyable stout.

I agree with the previous reviewer about customers being mostly from an older generation. This is also a place where cash is king. There are plenty of signs requesting that customers pay with cash. Although, it seems that cards are still accepted. There are plenty of interesting posters and prints on the walls to peruse, including a Sergeant Pepper Beetles picture.

Certainly a decent pub that is worth including on any crawl of Hove.

The Neptune is very much an old school boozer with a single long room. The locals mostly sat at the bar were all drinking cask though most of an older generation. Five handles on the bar and five beers, By The Horns Stiff Upper Lip, Harveys Best, Abbott, Hardy & Hansons Bitter and Listers Westmoreland Dark Mild. It is of course what will be labelled an old mans pub, but it's good pubs like this can still survive here and there amongst the modern bars.
