The Horam Inn has two bars with the left hand bar being a comfortable seating area with a nice fireplace. The right hand side has a more public bar feel and there is a pool table and dartboard in this area. There is also another room at the rear on the left hand side of the pub that houses another dartboard and leads to a good sized grassed beer garden that is lined with picnic tables. This pub also advertises itself as a seven bedroom hotel and some stairs lead to the upstairs accommodation. The bar is stocked with standard draught products and there are three hand pumps that were drawing Harveys Best and Landlord with the third being unused. Food is served at lunch and dinner times and roasts are available on Sundays from midday until 18:00. I didn’t spot any TVs anywhere, but there was some background music playing of the Eagles ilk. There is limited parking outside the front of the pub where another two picnic tables are found. Children are more than welcome and there are discounts on food for old aged pensioners.
My first thoughts were that this place was more hotel than pub, but thankfully once I had entered the bar area I realised that this place is in fact more of a pub. I got the feeling that there is ongoing refurbishment going on as the left hand bar is very pleasant, but the backroom is a bit tatty and the public bar a bit sparse. I also thought that a pub in this location on a sunny Sunday afternoon would be a lot busier than it was.
I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit here again, but I’d pop in for a pint if passing with time to kill.
