Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Hare & Hounds

A GBG 2024 entry, this thatched country pub was probably the highlight of our Bedfordshire crawl this time around. Entering from the front, you come straight into a traditional bar. A corridor to the rear of the room leads to the two main dining rooms/lounges to the left and another smaller room to the right.

Whilst there was a small group in one of the dining rooms, most customers (all 5 of them) were to be found in the bar with a couple of dogs. They were a friendly bunch. This is a pub where you can easily find yourself involved in the conversation.

A couple of real ales were on - Adnams Southwold Bitter & Brewpoint Shallow Bay. I'd read in the local CAMRA magazine that Brewpoint had switched their focus away from cask ales and onto craft beers, with just their Anchorman being brewed for cask. So, the presence of the Shallow Bay was not one I was willing to turn down, especially as it was the only cask ale brewed in Bedfordshire that I managed to find in 10 Bedfordshire pubs! It was actually quite a nice drop. Craft beers from Brewpoint on were Genesis & Foghorn.

In addition to the indoor drinking space, there is a very large garden sloping upwards from the rear of the pub. Very close by is the Shuttleworth Collection, which probably draws a few more visitors into the pub.
