Strongers . left this review about The Bear Inn
Now known as the Bear Inn, this is a 15th century pub with rooms located in Winnie-the-Pooh country. At the front of the pub steps climb to a verandah and the front entrance that opens into a wooden beamed staple shaped front bar area. A central U shaped serving counter faces seating to the left, right and across the front either side of the entrance. All the tables had knives and forks set with a water glass and napkin, but oddly it didn’t feel that food led. This was due to some boisterous old locals having late Saturday afternoon banter at the bar. I counted four hand pumps that were drawing Harvey’s Best and Sisters alongside Long Man’s Long Blonde and Copper Hop. A premium keg range was also available from the polite young bar staff. In the right rear of the pub is a large open plan seating area and a rear bar with more premium keg options is found to the left rear. There is lots more seating in the rear of this bar. Out the back is a large patio and lawn garden full of seating. This is a good option for visitors to Ashdown Forest.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Anchor Inn
Pleasant village inn, with an unusual veranda frontage. Partly opened-out inside to leave a fairly narrow front bar with small seating / dining areas at each end (one with a very welcome real fire on a frosty winter day). Extending rearwards in one corner to provide further dining rooms, leading in turn to separate rear bar and a beer garden at the back. With all four handpumps in use, I found the regular Harvey's plus 360° Session IPA, Flapjack from Cellar Head and Three Acre Brewery's potent Christmas Old Ale (£5.40).

A whitewashed old pub with a pegtile roof,on the corner of the road leading to the church.Entered up some steps by way of some sort of verandah.A lively saloon bar, together with a cosy back bar and dining room .Wood stoves, tiled floors, nostalgic Fremlin's memoriabilia. Two stalwarts on the bar-Harvey's Sussex BB and Larkin's Traditional from just up the road in Chiddingstone, together with a guest beer from Cronx. Craft keg from Tonbridge , plus various fizzy keg delights. An even ratio of drinkers and lunchers on our Michealmas Saturday visit.Friendly staff.
