Unfortunately The Waverley Hotel was closed for a number of years before being heavily renovated to accommodate a children’s nursery within the last couple of years.

I'm glad to report that this pub is still standing after much local talk of its demise and the really friendly barmaid is still in situ. During my recent visit the drinks selection was very limited with only one of the three hand pumps being operational. This was drawing Harvey's Best. The keg selection was limited with only Kronenburg and Fosters being available. There was also Surger Guinness which I had not seen before so I plumped for the Harveys which wasn't at its greatest. My wife's Fosters also had a tinge of old which she wasn't overly impressed with.

It was great to see a pool table and a dartboard in this local's boozer and I spotted a TV, although no advertisements for any sport. There are a few picnic tables in a paved beer garden to the side of the pub which is hedged off from the busy road.

It's a shame about the beer quality as I really liked it in here and wouldn't have hesitated at an opportunity to return. Hopefully I just caught them on an off day.
