The Ginger Dog is part of the Gingerman Group that holds three gastro pubs, including this one, and a restaurant in the Brighton area. A separate room behind the bar in this establishment is set for diners, but there is a proper bar at the front. My visit was on Tuesday night when the pub was quiet so it felt comfortable just having a beer, but I’m not sure what this place would be like during peak dining hours. The bar is stocked with premium draught products and there are three hand pumps that were drawing Harvey’s Best, W J King’s Brighton Blonde and Dark Star’s Old Chestnut. Unsurprisingly there is no television and some lounge music was playing in the background. There was a very strong smell of coffee wafting through the pub and dogs are welcome in the bar area.
The staff were friendly, but I’m not sure I’d go in here just for a beer again.
