A bit more Bistro than pub but not a bad place. We had a quick drink of Hardy & Hanson's before moving on.

A Greene King pub, but aside from the signage, you'd not guess it as such as there's no GK beer. Thankfully.
Situated in an attractive and somewhat precipitous street, made all the harder to master after a day spent researching the city's ostleries.
This is a small food-led pub, patronised by well-off Brighton sophistos - quite a change from most of the other city pubs.
The interior is simple, with an abundance of grey paint above a bare boarded floor, supporting rustic furniture. There was a cheery atmosphere in here with friendly bar staff. However, there was only the one ale: Hardy & Hanson's Kimberley at a pricey £2.20 a half and dull.
This is a decent pub but would be greatly improved with a selection of ales and better ones to boot.
Worth a visit, but I found that The Battle of Trafalgar, directly opposite hits the spot just that bit harder.

The Sussex Yeoman is a Greene King corner back street pub just up the road from Brighton Railway Station. I say pub, but I agree with the previous comment that this pub is more like a small bar/restaurant and over half of the customers in attendance were dining early on Saturday evening. The mains on the menu were knocking around the £10 mark and the pub opens at midday everyday just in time for lunch. There is a very limited selection of draught and one of the hand pumps was unused leaving a lonely offering from Hardy’s and Hansons. There is a coffee machine on the bar that was seeing its fair share of action and Ellesbelles sausages are advertised everywhere available in packs of four so maybe the friendly governor of this bar is an amateur butcher or something. There are no TVs that I could see, but some 80s music was playing in the background.
This place is popular with the late twenties and early thirties crowd, but it didn’t really do it for me.
