A cosy traditional pub just off the shopping area, with tables set in the square outside. The L-shaped interior has some nice dark wood beams, with a parquet and tiled floor, with a small carpeted dining area at the rear. Now a Greene King pub with Tribute and Long Man bitter alongside the predictable IPA and Abbot. The beer seemed well kept though.

There is some café style seating outside the front of the Sussex and some steps lead up to the entrance. There wasn’t much atmosphere when I visited recently, but it was a quite midweek evening. There was some low background music playing and the mood did lift a little when a Christmas classic came on. The service was polite and the Pride was on good form. Bombardier, Ordinary and a seasonal guest were also available alongside some standard draught. There is a TV at the rear of this L shaped pub and it was showing muted rolling news. Food is served daily from midday until 21:00, but I didn’t spot any menus for prices.
Although pleasant enough I found this pub to be a bit dull.
