Originally the Princess Victoria, this pub dates back to at least the early 1880s, later to be known as The Florist.
An enjoyable walk up here from the town centre, through attractive streets, some with neo-Gothic terraces.
The CBC is a fairly safe product, and this is more pubby than some, though the interior is decked out in a custard-themed colour scheme. There’s little décor, save for some old brewery mirrors. There’s a wood floor, tiled bar apron and conventional furniture. Given the proximity to the sea, it was appropriate that the gramophone was playing the Beach Boys at a sensible level.
Ales: as usual, too many to count. I plumped for a half of the Clerkenwell Pale at a very agreeable £1.75. It was decent and refreshing, though I was avoiding high ABV ales.
Nice place, good location, decent beers but not the homeliest or cosseting of branches.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Craft Beer Co
Modernised corner pub with the 'L'-shaped interior featuring unexpectedly light wood and paintwork. Also has an upstairs lounge (not visited). Six of the nine handpumps were operational when we visited, with real ales - including Roosters Red Start (£2.05, half) - in a range of strengths and styles plus a cider. Also has 18 craft keg lines and an impressive collection of over 200 bottled beers.
