The Montpelier Inn has been ordered to shut for three months and will be allowed to open again under a new name following a change of management. The freeholder has now put the property’s freehold on the market for offers in excess of £900,000.

Strongers . left this review about Montpelier
The Montpelier Inn is an L shaped pub that has a plasma screen at either end of the bar for showing Sky Sports. There is a dartboard around to the left of the bar and the toilets are located downstairs at the rear. My visit was around 21:30 last night (Tuesday) when there were ten or so locals who all seemed harmless enough. There is karaoke on the last Saturday of every month and a quiz is held here from 20:30 every other Sunday. I also saw some live music advertised for the weekend, but I’m not sure if it is a regular thing.
I found the staff to be friendly and the Doom Bar was well served. Harvey’s Best and Directors were available from the other two hand pumps and there is a range of standard draught products alongside San Miguel.
I would use this pub regularly if I lived locally, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for a return trip.
