The Office is a small bar that opens at midday and has a license until midnight on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. It wasn’t as busy as its peers on Saturday evening, but I was glad as I got to sit down and enjoy a well poured pint of Guinness. Only one hand pump is situated on the bar and this was drawing Harveys Best and a few standard draught products were available alongside Kirin Ichiban, Red Stripe and Stowford Press cider. Thai food is served and there was an overpowering smell of fish and lemon wafting through the bar. The music wasn’t overly loud and this is the sort of place that a few Nirvana hits would go down well in.
I didn’t spot any TVs and it did have a student bar feel, but I thought the staff to be friendly and I enjoyed my stay once my nostrils had acclimatised themselves to the smell. I would pop in again if passing, but wouldn’t go out of my way to revisit.
