A green tiled exterior with the interior as described below. Standard draught selection. Student discount available.

The Star Inn has recently changed its name to the Mucky Duck and it opens at midday and closes at midnight except for Fridays and Saturdays when closing is at 1am. The interior is a long single room that is broken up by supporting pillars. The walls are adorned with various pieces of artwork, from local artists, that are for sale and many had a heavy metal like skull and skeleton theme. The bar is on the back wall and is stocked with standard draught and the little seen Red Stripe. There are six hand pumps, four of which were unused leaving Harvey’s Best and Landlord as the ale options. The plasma screen was off and I didn’t spot any signs of Sky Sports. There was some background music that sounded like it was from the eighties, but I didn’t recognise any of the tracks. I’m assured that there are regular live music and DJ nights, but I didn’t spot any firm dates. Food is served every day except for Mondays and the mains cost around £8, which is about par for the area.
I found it a bit surreal in here and would think twice before returning as there are better pubs within earshot. Maybe I was unlucky with an ill-timed Tuesday evening visit.
