Excellent description of the interior below. The pub was serving a standard draught selection and has sporting memorabilia on the walls. Located down the road from Brighton racecourse.

There was only one other customer when I visited the Freshfield Inn on Tuesday evening at just after 20:00 two weeks ago. The governor was sitting behind the bar playing a solo game of cards with a pint of lager and the conversation revolved around the dart team who had cancelled because it was Valentine’s Day?!? There is a left and right entrance to this pub and inside a wall runs half way down the pub to split the front into two areas. The left hand side houses a pool table and a dartboard and the right hand side houses seating and a projector screen that was rolled up. There are plasma screens that were all off, but Sky Sports is shown when something worthwhile is being played. The bar is in the far left hand corner and has a slate roof to make it look like the top of a house. There is a fireplace in the right hand seating area that has this same effect. To the right of the bar is a small sunken area where a test your strength boxing machine and the doors to the toilets can be found. There is also a rear exit the leads to an advertised beer garden that I did not visit on this occasion. The background music was courtesy of Heart FM complete with adverts which I find quite depressing. The bar is stocked with standard draught products and I didn’t see any food advertised.
The décor and layout in this pub is unique, but the atmosphere and drinks selection is very run of the mill. The governor was very friendly and I may have had a slightly different view of this pub if the darts league match had gone ahead and generated a bit of atmosphere. This pub is too far from the train station to give it the benefit of doubt and another visit.
