The Town Crier is a small shop converted bar that was very busy with locals when I visited on Friday evening. Although small the owners have still managed to shoehorn a dartboard and a pool table into the rear of the pub and there is a huge birdcage at the entrance where a big parrot calls home. There are a couple of plasma screens and Sky Sports is shown. The bar is stocked with standard draught and supports two hand pumps, one of which was unused leaving Harveys Best as the ale of choice. There is a jukebox that was switched off for an England international football match. There is a small smoking area out the back to keep people off the street out the front.
I found it difficult to get comfortable in here as I’m not a local and there wasn’t really anywhere to stand. If passing again I would look through the window to see if there was any room and if there was I would revisit for another decent pint of Guinness.
