The Rose and Crown is a Hungry Horse branded pub so I wasn’t surprised find cheap beer and food. The bar on the rear wall in the centre of the pub supports standard draught and four hand pumps. During my visit on Monday evening last week these were drawing Abbot Ale (x2) and Greene King IPA with the fourth pump being unused. I opted for a pint of Carlsberg which set me back £2.25. There was a strong smell of curry in the air because my visit coincided with curry night. A ruby and a pint could be purchased for £5. The cheap prices meant that it was quite busy in here for a Monday evening. This pub also accepts Tesco Club Card Boost Vouchers, whatever they are.

The bar is flanked by two seating areas and to the left is a dartboard. I saw a notice that stated a £5 deposit was necessary before playing pool, which is located in the beer garden. Tuesday is darts night, there is a quiz on Thursdays and karaoke is on Fridays. I didn’t spot any televisions, but there was some very low background music. Out the back is a large picnic table strewn beer garden with covered seating for smokers and a covered family area where smoking is not permitted. This is the location of the aforementioned pool table.

I found the service to be polite enough, but I’m not a massive fan of the Hungry Horse chain so I do not plan to rush back.
