This GK-owned town pub is on the main route to Poole and sits in its own large plot on the edge of a residential area. The main thatched building is old, probably 18th Century, and has a large inglenook, exposed beams and flag flooring. There is a pool table, a tv, a gaming machine a disused dartboard and several tables for eating. Outside is a large car park and several wooden tables arranged in a row on the patio. There is a large detached annex which is used as a function room and has a skittle alley. This is no retro chocolate box inne, though, it's more a cheap, working, no frills local with a good atmosphere and a buzz about it. The food isn't brilliant – think Brake Bros. It's family friendly, and the staff are welcoming. Three ales on, all GK. I had a pint of Abbott which was over-gassed and lacking in taste. Fine to drop in en route, but I doubt I will intentionally come back.
