A Hall and Woodhouse pub in a housing area on the way to Hamworthy Marina. Name aside, there are a lot of nautical references – the walls are adorned with nauticalia, there are several model boats on display and the entrance has lit port and starboard lateral markers. The single large bar rambles and is mainly filled with tables for diners. There is WiFi, a gaming machine and it is child friendly. In fact many the the customers were families with children which did not make for a peaceful pint. The staff were a bit vague, but they seemed to function well enough. The background music was tolerable, and the seats were reasonably comfortable, including those in the small outside seating area athwart the carpark. There were three Badger ales on draft, and several in bottles. I had a pint of Hopping Hare which was in good condition but not the best I’ve had. It’s a reasonable enough place to heave to for a pint and a snack but it’s a bit out of the way for a crawl.
