Currently owned by Marstons, this large town pub is sited on a busy junction between Poole and Parkstone. It has a cramped carpark which, on this occasion, was made worse by the presence of large vans. It offers B&B and does basic restaurant food. The single large L-shaped bar is carpeted and mainly furnished for diners. There is a gaming machine which looks a little out of place, tv screen and WiFi, and the pub is family friendly. The decor is a bit dated, especially the carpet, although the overall ambiance, helped by the large fireplace at one end, is fairly agreeable. There are some meal deals available, and the food looked like good value, especially the specials board. The staff appeared indifferent to our presence, while the other clients were fairly sedate. Two ales on, Ringwood Best and Hobgoblin. Both were much too cold and somewhat bland. Despite lacking character and atmosphere, it's a decent enough pub, nothing exciting about it, but worth dropping in when passing.
