Hall and Woodhouse have recently refurbished this large Edwardian town pub, previously known as The Conujurer's Half-Crown, intending it to go up-market. They have failed. The pub sits on a corner and has a small carpark and a smoking terrace which offers a grandstand view of the main road. Inside, it is decked out with exposed timbers, cheap laminate flooring and a large tv screen showing football matches. At one end of the main L-shaped bar is a games room with a pool table, gaming machines and dartboard. There is a raised carpeted area at the apex. There is a selection of seating styles, a rather naff brick fireplace and some twee twinkling string lights around the bar. The locals were pretty normal, but the staff's appearance was off-putting. There was only one ale on, Badger, which was a bit dull. Not a very appealing pub.
