A 1980s brick-built estate pub on the edge of a housing area, near to the main road into Poole. It sits next to shops and the church so is geographically at the heart of the community it was built to serve. There is a car park which is shared with the other local businesses, an outside drinking/smoking area with bench seating and a children's play area at the side. Inside, there is a single large room, irregular in shape, which has a dining area, a lounge area and a pool table. An unusual architectural feature is the central fireplace, which gives it a slightly Scandinavian feel, although the edge is taken off that image by the standard pub carpet and the unusual red and white colour scheme. There is a jukebox, various gaming machines lay idle and there is BT WiFi. I found the staff a little hostile, while some of the locals appeared suspicious of strangers. Formulaic food is on offer alongside two ales, Doombar and Ringwood Best, both chucked causally into the glasses to generate foam and hide what little flavour remained in them. It's a reasonable enough local but it lacks atmosphere and I don't envisage dropping in again.
