Be surprised if this is here in a years time. Not that it was totally without its charms.
A basic village boozer that seems to be missing the village. To give you an idea of the decor/ambiance - the gents khazi was bust, but a hand written sign showed you could use the ladies.
An elderly landlord was interrupted from his facebooking by his first sunday customers of the day. A couple of CAMRA awards from the early 2000s suggested at former glories and true enough, he delivered a beautiful pint of Goachers Gold Star - having pulled through and tipped away the first offerings.
We stayed for over an hour and just one more punter came in.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Angel
A basic boozer, located on the edge of the former Rainham Dock brickfields (now mostly orchards and horse paddocks). Partly opened-out to leave a reversed 'J'-shaped layout, with two seating areas around the central servery (the one to the left continuing to the pool table area) and a smaller return to the right with just enough space for the dartboard and oche. Greene King Yardbird (£3.80) and the more local Goacher's Gold Star available from two of three handpumps. NB - The locals seem keen on 'industrial language', so perhaps something to bear in mind if visiting with anybody squeamish.

Redecorated, both inside and out. Goacher's Goldstar is now on permanantly, together with two changing ales. I had both Goldstar and Piston Broke from Box Steam brewery. Both were in top condition. Friendly bar staff and the locals like a natter and a bit of 'banter. Worth my visit.

Previously an GBG pub, The Angel is an old corner pub on the edge of Rainham town centre, knocked through into a single bar. It is lively and has a mixed clientele, although I think there had recently been an explosion, judging from the shrapnel embedded in the faces of those there on this occasion. It is quite scruffy, but in a lived-in, cosy sort of way. There is a pool table, and the pub frequently stages live music. The decor is interesting - paintings of a Devil and an Angel on the doors of the gents' and ladies' toilets contribute to a bit of a 1980s fantasy theme. The gents's Devil also serves to warn what lies behind that door. There were 3 ales on. I had a first-class pint of Skinner's Cornish Knocker, very well kept and most enjoyable. There was a strong smell of smoke drifting in from outside, but you can't blame the pub for that, I guess.A very friendly pub, well worth the walk from the station or stopping by if passing.
