A splendid Georgian pub with a large garden and a small car park, occupying a corner of a busy high street area, the pub currently owned by Greene King. It’s very much a family-friendly local, serving its community well. The customers represent a wide cross section, and they run regular quiz and live music nights. The atmosphere is comfortable, the staff are welcoming, there is free WiFi and the single, square bar formed from the original three bars is pleasant. There are gaming machines and TV screens. Food is nothing spectacular, just plain re-heated cheap stuff. Three ales on, I had a pint of Black Sheep, which was most enjoyable, and tried the GK IPA which was pretty standard. Overall, a decent pub given its location, and I’d be happy to come here for a pint whenever I’m in the area.
