A pleasantly quirky roadside pub which also serves as a great local. There is a rather scruffy, cluttered car park, leading to a paved outside seating area, more a smoking area than a garden, which has a smoking shelter. From there you enter the main bar which is full of eclectic clutter, including a stack of guitars in one corner and an ancient collection of sports trophies. The clutter, along with the welcoming woodburner in a large brick fireplace, the comfortable seating and a pleasant, interesting selection of music on the stereo which we were informed, was being streamed from Spotify. The landlord was friendly and we were made to feel at home. Three handpumps on the bar, two dry and the third dispensing Bristol Beer Factory’s Dream is Alive, which was in perfect condition. There was a solitary craft offering, Infinity’s Helles, plus ciders from North Street, Stowford Press and Sheppey, Brennan’s Irish Stout and Amstel. I really liked it here, having previously driven right past, and will certainly be back.
