Will Larter left this review about Fairfax Club

Still described as a private club, but when we, five complete strangers, walked in on a Wednesday afternoon we were made very welcome and served without question. My companions who went for the Abbot were pleased with it. I went for a bit of a random choice from among the kegs, but my half of Greene King IPA 3.4% was better than many examples of that beer I've had from hand pumps - a little cold, but pretty good. All the beer dispensers had little labels stuck on with blue tack - my GK was £4.20/pint. We had a good time here, especially after the guy on the next table who hadn't showered for a week left; otherwise it was very pleasant. I was amused by the club's "coat of arms", which our very friendly and welcoming server told us was made for them by Greene King (not that it's a tied house, but...). It reads "camera principis", which I translated for my drinking companions as CAMRA rules, and they almost believed me.
