Previously a bank, this imposing building is very much part of Wimborne’s commercial history and is now part of the Loungers chain. A such it has the standard array of gym flooring, paintings and lampshades, but also the range of drinks which has little appeal to the ale drinker. There was plenty of seating in the market square, much of it taken up by groups of vociferous females demanding instant service and whinging about the ‘slow service’. We found the staff to be friendly, but over-worked and possibly a bit vague, but there was no need to complain about or hassle them. The food was pretty dire, certainly not good value compared to other nearby establishments. Hofmeister, Cruzcampo, Old Mout, Menabrea, Brixton and Henry Weston’s were the offerings. Fine for a cup of tea and a cake, maybe, but not for an evening out.
