Visited 02/06/26. Visited previously 04/09/18.

Cask here was a single hand pump dispensing Bushey's Manx Bitter. Keg offering of Nectar a NEIPA from Okells, Guinness, Norseman lager, Staro, Madri, Aspall.

The Empress is a grand hotel on the mid promenade, readily distinguishable by being fully painted white and its glass arched cover over the steps from the promenade to the raised reception and bar area. There is a grassy area out front with picnic benches. The fully colourfully carpeted bar area is to the right-hand side of the top of the steps, and the bar counter is a plush slightly curved frontage off the right-hand wall. There is a mixture of tall and regular tables dotted around the bar area with either tall, backed stools or bucket armchairs, all colourfully upholstered. Light and jaunty music, no obvious screens, and a piano at the rear of the bar area suggesting they have live music here. There is a conservatory area down a couple of steps off the right-hand edge of the bar counter, this area tiled and very light on a bright day. Tables were laid for diners but no-one dining instead during my visit a rather loud chap having a work conference call barking instructions that totally dominated the entire bar area leave alone just the conservatory!
