The Cow Shed Cafe, Buxton

I've probably described a few pubs on this site as "barn like", but this one is actually a barn. Or at least a former cow shed. There's a food and drinks counter on the right on entering, and a farm shop on the left, but most of the space is taken up with tables set out cafe style, in ranks and files. A pub-type bar is in the far right corner with three hand pumps and half a dozen keg taps. Hours are typical of a cafe, but the bar remains open later when there is live music or a beer festival, which seems to be most weekends. The walls are decorated with pictures of tractors and cows, much to the delight of my two-year-old grandson. No rating given, as no beer consumed on this occasion. There are bus stops nearby, but buses do not run in the evenings and the road is dangerous for pedestrians, so anyone planning to visit for a beer needs a car and a designated driver.
