Despite the name this is very much a normal pub, open to all with no restrictions or signing in. You walk into a large open plan L shaped bar. Lots of tables are dotted about together with a few soft leather sofas. One side of the bar area is occupied by an old pool table. As to be expected the walls are covered with Welsh rugby memorabilia and pictures. The only hand pump was Wye Valley’s Butty Bach (£4.20 a pint) which was well kept. It is slightly sweet and not hopped enough for me but nevertheless a sold NBSS 3.5. The rest of the bar counter was filled with Eurofizz T bars and a huge Guinness Harp contraption. A large pile of tempting cling-filmed homemade rolls (cheese, ham, etc) sat behind the bar, on sale at £2.50 each. The bar staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient. The pub was busy with a mix of locals, families and small groups but didn’t feel crowded as it was so roomy. Recommended and I would certainly revisit if I was in town again.
