ROB Camra left this review about Ake & Humphris

Well described below by OB and I don't have anything to add.

The two youngish staff were very friendly and knowlegeable about the wines. Myself and MS CAMRA like differing styles of red wine and once we'd explained what we like they gave us a taster each of different wines and they'd got it spot on. A 175ml glass is a tenner by the way. Lots of good natured banter ensued and we ended up having another glass each.

Not the cheapest hour we've ever spent, but then again this is Harrogate. We'll call in again next time we're in town.

Old Boots left this review about Ake & Humphris

A well known wine merchant in Harrogate, they have opened a new shop and bar in the town centre. This is a shop conversion and as a wine shop shelves of bottles take up one wall, beers and spirits are also available as off sales. There is a marble topped counter in the rear right with two tall keg taps with Roosters beer plus some bottled beer in a fridge including some Belgians. It has a bare board floor and earthy coloured walls, one is of exposed stone. The decor is a number of mirrors with pictures of European places printed on them so you can play guess the city. There is also a wall mounted shelf laden with assorted nick nacks and there’s an interesting light fitting made of old funnels. Subdued piped music adds to the ambience. The seating is a little limited and is at a mix of largely old dining and kitchen tables, there’s a Grandfather clock in one corner. A price list on the wall by counter shows a half pint premium and card only payments. The toilets are unsigned but are in the basement.
