Tris C left this review about Guinness Open Gate
Oh and by the way: if you want, you can get your selfie *printed* onto the head of your Guinness; I kid you not.

Tris C left this review about Guinness Open Gate
This place opened six days ago, comprising a Guinness brewery (though not for Guinness) in an enormous complex just off Covent Garden’s Long Acre.
This is a multipurpose venue, with brewery and tours, substantial merchandise and outdoor drinks’ dispensary in a courtyard patrolled by more security guards than Colditz. The bar area is black granite topped with drinks’ kegs behind Perspex to the rear. Then there’s utilitarian furniture to the cobbled courtyard – Old Brewer’s Yard – where the young congregate to partake of the favoured boisson de nos jour of their favourite YouTube ‘influencers’ (see photo); there’s a Guinness food van, but it was shut at the time of my Tuesday 9.30pm visit.
Aside from Guinness, there are their keg offerings in the form of Open Gate Porter, Pale Ale, IPA and Lager, all £7.45 a pint, served by friendly bar staff. Unsurprisingly my half of Guinness was fine, though given the outside temperature it was no surprise that the Extra Cold version wasn’t available, as it was extra cold whether you wanted it to be or not.
There’s a certain novelty factor here and Covent Garden is hardly a hotbed of quality hostelries, but curiosity satisfied, I can’t see a reason to return, but if it gets the Guinness drinking fan club out of pubs, then I’m all for it.
