Large new sports bar opened by Piccadilly Circus. I had understood that this was to be the seventh London venue of Sport London, and called Blackwood but it has opened (last Friday) as part of a different chain it seems and their first sports bar in London. Inside the ground floor space is sort of a long rectangle, bare boarded with a tile skirt along the bar counter which is along the rear wall. High industrial ceiling with lots of ducting and large hexagonal screen set suspended off a pillar in the middle of the venue showing a mix of recorded sport action on my late afternoon visit. More screens dotted around the walls and along the rear wall of the bar servery. Seating is via a mix of tall tables with tall stools, benches and banquettes serving tall tables. There is a raised stage area to the right of the entrance resplendent with drum kit and the largest screen in the venue on the wall behind it. There is a basement area that is signposted for karaoke activities, and an upstairs area via a staircase in the front left-hand corner hosting darts and pool tables. Another staircase in the rear right-hand corner guides you towards the Superbox - but I didn’t venture up to find out what that is!
