Saffron Park is surrounded by 6ft high walls, offering few entrances with at least one being solely for the bowls club ("private"). I finally located a way to get into the park and made my way round to the club room taking just one wrong turn on the way. The pavilion which the taproom occupies is very much the municipal sports facility. Gun Brewery occupy a fair sized room, with wooden benches and tables, offering the least possible comfort, though a few sofas are also provided.

The grumpy barman obviously had little to do with just 5 customers inside and a small group outside, and even serving a complete pint seemed to be a source of some annoyance, such that my request for a top-up of a seriously short measure still left room in the glass.

At the bar, there's 4 Gun cask ales, along with about 12 keg taps, most from the host brewery. None of these seem to be priced, so I have no idea how almost a pint and a small packet of crisps came to £8.15. I understand that food vans manage to find their way here at weekends.

Quite honestly, I have no idea why a small local brewery has taken on this place. It's almost impossible to find and remote from the nearest pub. I've been once and I can't imagine ever returning. There's plenty of pubs in Eastbourne, all of which are far easier to locate. I really can't see the point of this.

Strongers . left this review about Gun Brewery Saffrons Taproom

Gun Brewery Saffrons Taproom is in the pavilion of the 18-acre Saffrons Sports Club where cricket, hockey, padel and football are all played. It’s a very attractive place in the heart of Eastbourne Town, so I imagine the picnic tables facing the cricket pitch are prime location on a nice summer afternoon and evening. Inside the blue walled pavilion high tables run up the right and padded benches up the left and in between are some long benches. On the far wall are two dartboards and a large television was airing Sky Sports golf while a smaller television played Champions League football highlights from the evening before via TNT Sports. Both sets were muted while some background music played during my recent Thursday late afternoon visit when there was a handful of other customers. The serving counter supports four hand pumps; I went for a Chummy Bluster that was ok. There are also 12 keg fonts across the back bar. The service was polite, but my daughter wasn’t very impressed with the Organic Karma Cola that is expensive and tastes like crap, please just get some normal coke in. This is a good addition to Eastbourne, so I’ll be back to try some more of the brewery’s beers.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Gun Brewery Saffrons Taproom

Set in The Saffrons Sports Club pavilion, overlooking the cricket ground, and now a Gun Brewery taproom. Rectangular clubhouse room with canteen-style furniture and the bar at the entrance end. Interesting selection from the row of 12 craft keg taps on the bar-back, with Chummy Bluster best bitter (£5.50) and Zanzama 6.5% IPA also available from one of the two pairs of handpumps.
