A small brewery and tap room located in a somewhat out of the way location, but nonetheless just a short drive from the A38, most of the available seating is in a pleasant outside courtyard, but if the weather is inclement inside options are somewhat limited. Like many brewery taps opening hours are also somewhat limited, so do check their website for the latest information. Generally speaking it seems to open on a Thursday and Friday evening.
Internally it’s quite attractive, certainly much better than the very basic appearance of many brewery taps and consists of a herringbone wooden floor with pale tiling around the perimeter, exposed stone walling and whitewashed ceiling boards with oak joists. It is though quite small, with only three tables, although there was quite a bit of standing space. A darts board was in one corner, with large oversized lamp shades hanging from the ceiling. The bar counter was a little more rustic being clad with old wooden boards, and the brewing vessels were visible in the background.
Beers on tap were all their own as might be expected, and a blackboard next to the bar detailed their full range along with ABV and tasting notes, and each had cask, keg or X (currently not on) scrawled next to them. The current line up was Amber, Gold and Stout on cask along with IPA and a couple of lagers on keg. A separate board listed a cider, but it was not specified what this was. Overall, a very pleasant spot, and it would make a useful double stop with the nearby Ad Astra tap room, although the chances of finding both open at the same time may be rather slim.
