Blackthorn _ left this review about Copperhead Ales Brewery & Taproom

Located on the outskirts of Totnes in the middle of an industrial estate, but nonetheless only ten minutes or so walk from the centre, this is the tap room and brewery for Copperhead Ales which has apparently relocated from Newton Abbott.

As would be expected, it’s quite industrial in nature with concrete screed on the floor and little in the way of any soft furnishings, although some of the chairs were padded and it does perhaps feel slightly less utilitarian than many such places. The breeze block walls had been painted copper in a nod to the brewery’s name and rough chipboard had been used to make both the bar counter and the backdrop to a seating area at the rear. To the left were a few random pieces of artwork on the walls, as well as a couple of shelves containing a selection of bottles, cans, an old beer engine and an old radio among other items. Other furniture consisted of basic benches and tables, with more outside than in. As is the case in many such places, a small selection of branded merchandise was available to purchase.

Beers on tap were all their own as would be expected and consisted of Pale Rider, Copperhead, Fresh Cream and Deliverance, whilst a fifth pump appeared unused. All in all, not a bad spot, and the landlord was helpful and engaging as well as offering samples, but it is definitely a warm weather venue. Even sat inside, with the large open roll-up shutter it was distinctly chilly in there and I wouldn’t have wanted to linger too long.
