It can be hard to keep up with the changing scene in the Piece Hall as bars come and go, what was Gin Lane is now The Hop Yard and obviously more beer oriented. It is in the bottom left corner as you look downhill from the upper end of the hall. It’s a long and thin place with a counter along the rear wall. The décor is a bit steam punk in places but of course one side of the bar is all window or door. Two hand pulls one with a decent White Rat, there’s a 20% cask discount between 2 and 8 on Sundays. Two horseshoes serve a standard keg choice but three solos have more interesting beers from Salt.
