E TA left this review about Wyvern
Previously a members only sports club, this square, brick built club house is now open to all. It has a GBG 2005 entry, though the beer quality begs the question as to whether it should. The two ales on were Pride and Will's Neck, both in good condition, but not significantly better than most ale pubs in the county. Stan's Big Apple and Old Rosie were the cider offerings, alongside 3 mega ciders from Thatcher's, while a keg range of John Smith's, Carling, Estrella, Guinness, Korev, Atlantic and Poretti was also available. The single rectangular bar is carpeted and has several TV screens showing live sports. The ceiling is open, showing the roof trusses, while the large picture widows at the front allow views of the sports pitches. There is also a dart board and gaming machine. There is a function room at the far end. Outside, there is a brick smoking shelter and a large car park. In addition to the sports players the club is popular with older members of the local community, as well as families, probably because there isn't a decent traditional pub in the immediate area. The barmaid was friendly and good humoured and the general atmosphere was convivial. Worth dropping in.
