A sports and social club which has opened its doors to new members, this fine Victorian building is a great asset to Sherborne's drinking population. There is little by way of a garden, as most of its outside area has been turned into car parking, though a small paved sitting and smoking area remains at the back. Inside, there are two rooms at the front and a skittle alley behind. On the right as you enter is a games room with pool, darts, gaming machines and various table games including table football and table skittles. On the left is the main bar which has a juke box, TV screen and a large stone fireplace with a woodburner. The barmaid was friendly and gave us a warm welcome, while the other customers were tolerent of strangers. Ales on were Otter Bitter and Bath Wild Hare, both in good condition. There was also a dry pump. Keg choices were Underfall, Arctic Sky, Guinness, 1664, Carlsberg, Amstel and Thatcher's Gold. It definitely feels more like a traditional local pub than a club, and I'd be happy to come back.

Club, but non-members are welcome. Members, though, get a discount on drinks!
