Santiago is a tapas restaurant, bar and deli on George Street that has recently expanded into a premises on Cavendish Circus that used to be the Indian Palace. These buildings back on to each other so it was an ideal location to open the San Pedro by Santiago restaurant. I was more interested in the bar which is found in the right hand side of the Old Pump House on the George Street side. A steel topped wooden serving counter with a few bar stools runs up the right-hand wall where it faces some high tables up the centre and some standard tables and chairs up the left-hand wall that separates the bar area from the restaurant and deli. This is a Spanish themed business so I wasn’t surprised to see a Victoria Cerveza Malaga beer sign in the wall, but this isn’t actually available. The draught is premium keg which included Estrella, which I quite enjoyed. I also really like the Sarriegui Con Sal (salt) patatas fritas that had a taste of olive oil running through, so I’m going to have to make a trip to Waitrose to pick some of these crisps up. This isn’t somewhere I go for a just a beer again, but I liked the staff and the atmosphere so I’d have no problem popping in for a bite to eat.
