Soup Dragon left this review about Stag & Scotch
Came back to Newport to do this micropub as it was closed on our last visit. Modern shop conversion, with a single room, the wood floor was matched my old metal signs and pew seating. Board games available. No music or TV. Service was great and it was rammed (we had to come back, to find it still rammed). Five pulls with rotating beers, the Elgood's Plum Porter was very good. I look forward to returning.

Real Ale Ray left this review about Stag & Scotch
This one room micropub really hit the spot on our visit, excellent staff and fabulous beer. This micro was a former gift shop and pet shop, which opened it's doors in Dec last year. The interior is traditional with lots of reclaimed church pews, large tin signage on a feature wall, collection of Toby Jugs and old photos of Newport in frames around the walls. The bar positioned at the rear had a distressed painted bar front which was made to look like old cupboards and drawer fronts along with door knobs.
Five handsome looking handpumps, finished in a rich brown timber and highly polished brass bases. The line up was Three Tuns Brewery Best Bitter and Pale, Ludlow Blonde, Roosters London Thunder Porter and Pheasantry Dancing Dragonfly. Some interesting reading on their official site below.
