A minimalist bottle shop and wine bar tucked away on a quiet residential street between Dalston and Hackney. The venue occupies a small shop unit, with a simple but stylish setup. The bar runs along the right-hand wall, featuring a retro-style tiled countertop and a plainer back bar. Opposite is a wall of wine bottles on shelving, with a drinking ledge and bar stools below. Additional seating is found along the bar counter and beneath the front window, continuing the ledge-and-stool theme. A few keg badges have been stuck above the doorway at the back, but otherwise the decor is very sparse. The room was extremely dimly lit, giving the misleading impression it might be closed from outside, although once through the door, a chilled jazz-funk playlist helped lift the mood.
No cask ale is available, but there were three keg beers on – two from Drop Project and one from Lost & Grounded – plus three unused taps. I tried Drop Project Crush at £6.50 a pint, which was a tasty brew. The barman was friendly and clearly knew his wines well, offering lots of advice to befuddled customers. Food is available from a small, French-inspired snack menu featuring fancy items like sobrasada, goat’s cheese and escargot.
I felt like this was quite a compact and classy venue with a relaxed, intimate vibe, but it’s a bit of a stretch to view it as a pub. For me, it’s a wine merchant first and foremost, a wine bar at a stretch and it happens to have a few craft keg beers on draught too, which qualifies it for this site I suppose. I had a happy half hour here and could imagine it might be a pleasant spot for a couple to visit or to get stuck into some wine, but beer drinkers are far better served by heading in either direction to Hackney or Dalston.

Visited 13/08/25. Visited previously 13/09/23.

No cask. Two taps offering the Keller Pils from Lost & Grounded and the River End from Two Flints.

This is a small neighbourhood bar. Glass fronted with the bar counter along the right-hand wall in a bare boarded venue and some unbacked wooden stools to sit at the bar counter. Otherwise, there is a drinking ledge along the left-hand wall served by a collection of similar stools. Shelving along that wall house the wine offering by the bottle alongside a dresser in the very front. The toilet at the rear has a very severe step immediately inside the door so watch out for that freefall under gravity. Not really a beer destination but a very pleasant wine bar that has a couple of draught beer options.
