Old Boots left this review about The King's Inn

A long thin new pub in the tourist hotspot that is the Shambles and I guess along with Graham that tourists are the target demographic. It does claim a long history being originally a pub called the Eagle and Child in the 18th century, the door inscription claims ties with Charles II (died 1685). Beer wise you have a choice of their own labelled kegs plus Guinness, ciders, Camden Hells and Corona. A solitary hand pull lurks at the far end of the counter beside the skull on a stand. The cask beer on my visit was Yorkshire Heart Blonde in reasonable condition, less is more with cask beer of course. The front is set out with chairs and tables while further back it’s set out with tables and chairs. The decor is eclectic but majors on royalty, British pride and York.

Graham Coombs left this review about The King's Inn

An addition to the York drinking scene in a former Italian restaurant in the famous Shambles, so unsurprisingly pitched at tourists and (over)priced accordingly. Actually once inside you could be forgiven for thinking it had always been a pub, with a suitably ancient-looking long, narrow and beamed interior covered with the sort of junk you might see in anywhere similar. Much of it you probably did, as the owners previously ran other York outlets. Just the one handpump, which was sadly out of use although I was assured they normally have a cask ale on. Otherwise there were three house-badged keg brews on (2 lagers and a bitter) of unknown origin but exceptionally cold and gassy, plus a couple of Camdens and some usual eurofizz. Actually they weren't all on, with at least 3 of the sundry keg taps glassed off also. Not been open long so I will give them the benefit of the doubt for the moment, but they need to sort out their beer supply to keep any interest.

Newly opened pub, housed in a former Italian restaurant. Little information available, at present.
