Was passing so popped in for a look and a quick beer. This is newly opened and the Grand Cafe is on the ground floor and the Lounge & Cocktail Bar is on the first floor. Very elegant. The latter curves round with the marble topped bar positioned so if you sit at the bar on the tall leather stools you are looking down Great Eastern St to the Old St roundabout. OK maybe not the greatest view in the world but the bar itself is very pleasant. There are leather sofas against the wall with small round tables and leather chairs as you follow the curve round with a small stage for live music to the right of the bar.
Beer wise just Brite Lights Pilsner on tap from Coalition Brewing. By the bottle there is Machina lager and Dennis Hopp’r IPA and Little Victories session IPA from Mondo plus Lucky Saint and Sassy Cidre.
Whilst this place is very classy can’t rate highly owing to the lack of beer options. Happy sitting here for a quick beer but more inclined to try the Grand Cafe downstairs for food on another occasion. The outside / pavement seating not hugely appealing owing the busy road junction the venue finds itself on.
